Coconut oil is widely used in beauty products because of its moisturizing and nourishing properties. It is rich in antioxidants and vitamins E and K, which benefit the beauty of your hair and skin. In most cases, however, coconut oil used in your regular beauty products is refined and low quality in general. Besides, conventional cosmetics is mostly packed with other harmful and unnecessary ingredients, so why not to use this amazing natural beauty product alone?
Below are 10 amazing (trusted!) ways you can use coconut oil alone for your body, face and hair care. Even though since recently coconut oil has been receiving some criticism, as it may be camedogenic, I still believe it is one of the most effective and universal natural beauty products out there. For those who would rather not risk having their pores clogged (I personally never had it), avoid putting it pure on your face and enjoy the pleasant beauty results from the tips mentioned below! For best results, go for a good quality organic unrefined virgin coconut oil in a glass container, as it helps to keep the nutrients and, unlike plastic packaging, doesn’t negatively impact the nutritional value of it.
Coconut oil for hair
1 – Leave-in hair conditioner. For moisturized and healthy hair, apply a generous amount of coconut oil all over your hair, avoiding the scalp. Leave in for at least 30mins (the longer the better) and then wash your hair as usual.
2 – Oil for hair ends. To prevent your hair ends from splitting, apply a small amount of coconut oil after drying your hair.
3 – Dandruff treatment. Massage some coconut oil into the roots of your hair and leave it for several hours or overnight. Then wash your hair as usual. Repeating this treatment several times will improve the condition of the skin on your scalp.
4 – Hair mask. For soft and nourished hair, massage some coconut oil into your hair after washing it, leave for around 5 minutes and then rinse it off as usual.
Coconut oil for face
5 – Eye makeup remover. Apply a small amount of coconut oil on your eyes by using a cotton pad. Makeup will melt away!
6 – Eye cream. Coconut oil helps against puffiness, fine lines and dark circles. It is very gentle for the thin and sensitive skin under eyes. Apply a small amount and gently massage it in.
7 – Natural highlighter. Who could have thought that coconut oil can even be used to enhance the look of your makeup? Apply a small amount on your cheekbones and above lip. It will work as a highlighter and reflect the light.
8 – Lip balm. Coconut oil is great for moisturizing your dry lips in the winter and keeping them soft and nourished. What is more, it smells great and isn’t bad if you eat it! For a hand bag size, get an empty lip balm tube and put some semisolid coconut oil in it. Now you can apply it as you go!
Coconut oil for body
9 – Shaving cream. Warm some coconut oil up and apply it on your legs before shaving. The razor will go very smoothly and leave your legs moisturized and skin will be less irritated!
10 – Body oil. Coconut oil can be a great natural moisturizer for your body and it smells as if you just came back from a tropical holiday! Besides, it has a natural SPF 4, which is always handy if you go outdoors.
